Lambeth lists the markets as an Asset of Community Value

milestone governance

Lambeth Council has listed Brixton Village and Market Row as an Asset of Community Value, on an application by the Stour Trust.

Plainly, what that means: if the owners trigger a relevant sale, the listing gives the community a window (up to about six months) to prepare a bid before the sale can complete. It does not force a sale to us, it does not set the price, and it does not guarantee a timeline. It’s not a silver bullet. The listing bought us time. The bid is what has won us the right to buy.
