This Cookie Policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, and explains how buybackbrixton.org (the "Site") uses cookies and similar technologies.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, work more efficiently, and to provide information to the people who run the site.

2. Who this policy covers

This policy is issued on behalf of The Advocacy Academy ("TAA") and Brixton Traders Community Association ("BTCA"), joint controllers of the Site, as described in our Privacy Policy. Impact Brixton builds and hosts the Site and manages the technical implementation of any cookies described below.

3. What this Site does

This Site sets no cookies at all. Not strictly necessary ones, not analytics, not advertising. There is nothing to accept or reject, which is why you have not been shown a cookie banner.

In practical terms:

  • We do not use Google Analytics or any other analytics tool, so we do not track which pages you visit or how long you stay.
  • We do not use advertising cookies, social media pixels or any other tracking technology.
  • The fonts and images are served from this Site itself, so simply reading a page does not tell any other company that you were here.
  • The mailing list form only sends anything anywhere at the moment you press the button to join, and what it sends is the name, email address and role you typed. Nothing is stored on your device.

4. Types of cookies

Cookies generally fall into the following categories:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for the Site to function. These cannot be switched off and do not require consent.
  • Analytics and performance cookies — help site owners understand how visitors use a site. Require consent.
  • Marketing and advertising cookies — used to track visitors across websites for advertising purposes, for example social media pixels. Require consent.

We use none of these. We do not currently plan to use marketing or advertising cookies on the Site. If any of this changes, this policy will be updated, and where the law requires it your consent will be sought through a banner before any such cookies are set.

5. Your cookie choices

Because the Site sets no cookies, there are no preferences for you to set. You can control or delete cookies from other websites through your browser settings. Blocking all cookies may affect the functionality of other websites.

6. Third-party and embedded content

The Site embeds no third-party content: no videos, no social media timelines, no donation widget. Where we link out to another website, that website may set its own cookies once you arrive there, governed by its own policies rather than ours. The links we use are:

  • GoFundMe, for donations: see gofundme.com/privacy
  • 38 Degrees, for the petition
  • Instagram, for the campaign's social accounts

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Site changes. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it was last revised.
